How I was able to help a stranger eliminate high anxiety and fear, and what I learned from this experience![tube]apP8iKDEFqs[/tube]
I just got back from a one-week vacation where I vowed to relax and think of nothing else other than beach, sunshine and rest.
On the flight back, I find myself next to a woman who’s having a massive panic attack, she’s claustrophobic, can hardly breath, her chest is constricted, she shows signs of hyper-ventilation, she’s sweating and her heart is probably jumping out of her chest.
I offer to exchange my isle seat with her, hoping it may be roomier than her window seat and then I venture to offer her help with a technique I know, as I am a practitioner of Energy Psychology.
Since she’s eager and ready, I start applying EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique, by using a series of sentences and by tapping. Because we’re surrounded by hundreds of passengers, and we don’t have the privacy of my office, I use some accu-points that are rather inconspicuous, trying not to draw attention or embarrassment to her.
While I’m tapping I am constantly checking her level of anxiety on a scale of 0 to 10; she felt she was a 12 when we started!
By the end of approx. 8 minutes of tapping, she is totally calm, relaxed, her breathing is deep and she’s laughing with me and with her husband. I ask her some questions, do some testing just to make sure she’s really over her panic. And she is!
When she thanks me, it dawns on me that I am the one who’s grateful. I just got a chance to serve and make a big difference in someone’s life: a difference forever, because I know the power of EFT! I realize how blessed I am to witness such situations and I’m grateful for such a marvelous finale to a marvelous trip!
